Your glasses are more than a prescription. They are a part of your wardrobe, and, just like any other part, you will not want to wear them if they're uncomfortable. Many different factors contribute to the fit and feel of a pair of glasses, such as the width of the frame, the material they are made out of, and whether they do or don't have nose pads. To get your perfect fit, we start the process at styling. We consider your prescription, face shape, and nose shape, as well as any personal preferences for materials. Once we have the perfect frame for you and your prescription is ready, we begin the hands-on portion of achieving a great fit. Opticals refer to this as an adjustment. With your new lenses in the frame your glasses will often feel different from how you remember. That is because of the newly added weight of the lenses in addition to any changes to the frame that occurred from inserting thicker lenses. From this point, we will do a full inspection of how they fit on you and identify any problems, such as if they are sitting crooked, fitting you too tightly, or sliding down your nose. A lot of these issues are not easily identifiable and involve assumption and investigation on our part. For instance, if a pair of glasses is fitting you too tightly, you may not even begin to notice that there is a problem until a week or more has passed of constant wear. We can identify these issues and fix them before they begin. After you leave our store, your glasses may still have issues that need adjustment but were not identified. Typically you will not be able to notice these issues until enough time has passed. Whenever your glasses are not fitting properly, we encourage you to give us a call and schedule an appointment. We are always willing to hear out your issues and resolve them. In our theme of adjustment, we recently introduced a new line of frames into our store, Alain Mikli. While we all love their dramatic colors and styles, the feature we are most excited about are their perfect fit. Alain Mikli frames have a unique weighted fit, meaning that they will slip perfectly and comfortable behind your ears every time. We would love to let you try some on yourself!
